WFH shouldn't mean you dress down

As we get into peak lockdown mode, it seems like work from home will be our reality for very, very long time to come. While it’s easy to get out of bed, slip into a pair of pyjamas and get started with work, it helps if you dress up if only to remind yourself that you’re not on vacation and are actually working. The writer Gay Talese is known for famously dressing up in a three-piece suit even though he simply has to walk across the corridor from his bedroom to the study. Of course, we aren’t recommending you wear a suit but surely it wouldn’t hurt if you threw on one of your better outfits while you work away at your computer so when your boss reaches out to you for a video conference, you don’t have to scramble to your wardrobe to look presentable.

As it turns out, you don’t have to put in a lot of effort into looking cool when your boss suddenly video-calls you because all you need is to turn to Ranveer Singh for inspiration. Ranveer’s been known for his maximalist style but every once in a while, you’ll see Ranveer show up in a classic silhouette almost as if to remind you just why classics will always be cool.

Here we turn to Ranveer Singh’s look from the time he was promoting his upcoming movie 83. The film that stars Ranveer in the lead role as Kapil Dev is up for release later this year. Keeping with the theme of the movie and the style of the time, Ranveer’s style was close to Kapil’s look from the time he lifted the Prudential Cup after beating the West Indies in a historic match.

If there’s one thing that hasn’t changed in the Indian cricket team’s uniforms, it is the navy blue blazer. It’s remained constant over the decades and has been something several young women and men have aspired to. So it seemed appropriate that Ranveer doff his hat to the iconic blazer during the promotions of the film too.

Here he is, in a pair of Moschino jeans that he teamed up with a crisp white shirt and a navy blazer. A pair of retro Carrera sunglasses, a Frank Müller watch and a brown suede shoes complete Ranveer’s look. Conveniently, it’s also a good WFH uniform and one you don’t have to go out of your way to shop for.

Simply pick any formal shirt from your closet, ideally white or pink, or throw on a printed shirt and pair it with your Friday jeans (come on, we know it’s the only thing you’ve been wearing right now) and throw on that trusty blue blazer. If you don’t have suede shoes, consider a pair of white sneakers and you’re good to take that Zoom call from your boss.

Seems easy doesn’t it?
