Rebranding Of PPR Scheme To Be Finished Soon

Housing and Local Government Minister Zuraida Kamaruddin revealed that the rebranded People’s Public Housing (PPR) scheme is almost done. The programme will be under a rent-to-own scheme.

Zuraida promised earlier that the ministry will be launching the rebranded housing programme named Projek Perumahan Malaysia (PPM) at the end of the month, reported Free Malaysia Today.

Under the PPM, units will be priced between RM90,000 and RM300,000 and measuring at least 900 sq ft each.

“I’m finalising the financial packages now with the help of Bank Negara Malaysia and other financial institutions,” she said.

Zuraida is hoping that the new scheme will help those having difficulties applying for housing loans.

In contrast to the PPR, units were sold typically for RM42,000 in Sabah and Sarawak and RM35,000 in the peninsula, with them also available for rent for RM124 a month.

Meanwhile, several politicians from the opposition and Pakatan Harapan have disagreed with the rebranding.
