Dust and smoke from a grass fire were blown across Great Falls, Montana, on January 13, as the National Weather Service reported winds of up to 76 mph in the area.
Local news outlet KRTV reported “small wind-whipped grass fires” in the area of Great Falls on Wednesday, as well as downed power lines and trees, roof damage, and overturned semi-trucks due to extreme winds.
The NWS said Wednesday’s wind speeds – 76 mph in Great Falls, 74 mph in Helena, and 72 mph in Havre – set new January records.
