Redesigned Google Play store rolls out on Android

Google Play Store

The Google Play store for Android has undergone a makeover and is gradually being rolled out worldwide.

Teased last week by Google UI engineer Kirill Grouchnikov, the Google Play store is now officially refreshed, updated and coming to an Android near you. Google has focused on making the app more accessible, streamlined so it's easier to find what you're looking for.

Content has been separated for clarity, with two main tabs: Apps & Games and Entertainment. Each page has a featured image gallery to encourage discoverability.

The update is server-side, meaning users cannot download the new Play store themselves; rather they just have to be patient.
