IPOH: A 34 year-old-man who has been in police detention since March 14 on suspicion of murdering a single mother at Taman Dato Lew Yap Sip, Ampang, here, has had his remand extended until March 27 as the investigation into the case continues.

Ipoh magistrate’s court’s deputy registrar N. Mageswari said the man's remand was extended after the previous remand period of seven days ended today.

"The remand extension (is to) help uncover the murder weapon and to record his statement," she said here today.

The suspect arrived at the court at 10.35am this morning clad in a red and black-striped t-shirt and tried to cover his face with the shirt as he was escorted by police.

It was reported on March 13 that bride-to-be Hamidah Abdul Rahman, 53, was found dead in her bedroom with stab wounds on her back.

She was found by her youngest daughter, Noor Shairah Hussain, 17, who wanted to wake her up at 5.30am.
