If you love the great outdoors, good coffee, soft beaches and the sound of the ocean crashing against the shore, you will love this new job opening on a remote Irish island.

Great Blasket island, with over 1,100 acres of unspoiled, largely mountainous, terrain, is on the hunt for a couple to run its quaint coffee shop and manage the island's accommodation for seven months.

With the island's summer season set to kick-start this April, locals are looking for someone to relocate to the island until October. Over on Twitter, the job listing explains: "A unique position required – looking for long term management of Island Accommodation and Coffee Shop. Couple or two friends. 1st April 2020 - October 2020 accommodation and food provided."

A stone's throw from the coast of Count Kerry, the island is a relatively under-the-radar spot, with just a handful of full-time residents left. As part of a six-island archipelago, it is only accessible by boat from the surrounding islands.

In the 20th century, the small fishing community had shrunk to around 20 inhabitants (it's thought the most it ever had was around 150). But, after the government stepped in to help, its crumbling numbers have thankfully been on the rise.

With a famed fishing heritage, idyllic views and natural environment, it's the perfect place to head to if you're looking to spend your summer away from the crowds.
