Magdalo Representative Gary Alejano is preparing a supplemental complaint to strengthen his impeachment complaint against President Rodrigo Duterte.
This is despite numerous requests for him to pull out his complaint especially since Vice President Leni Robredo is directly affected by the issue.
“Kitang kita po na itong pag file ng impeachment complaint laban kay Vice President ay diversion doon sa isyu ng pag file kay President Duterte at maraming nanawagan na iurong ko ang impeachment complaint para hindi madamay si vice president so ginawang bargaining chip,” Alejano said.
(We can see it clearly that the impeachment complaint filed against the Vice President is a diversion on the issue of filing a complaint against President Duterte and I have received many request to pull out my complaint so that the Vice President will not be dragged in the issue. It was used as a bargaining chip.)
In the forum Alejano attended, he argued that the agreement between President Duterte and China over the West Philippine Sea and Benham Rise is a betrayal of public trust.
Alejano said he will also mention in his complaint the alleged P1 million assistance given by the President to the New People’s Army (NPA) as a ground for impeachment.
“Meron pong sikreto ang Pangulo na hindi natin alam kung meron mang kasunduan ilabas ninyo. Magkaroon tayo ng pormal na kasulatan memorandum of agreement para po may baseman tayo ng aksyon” he said.
(The President has a secret that we don’t know. If there is an agreement, disclose it. Let us have a formal document, a memorandum of agreement as basis for action.)
After Rep. Alejano finishes studying the evidence, he plans to file a supplemental complaint to strengthen his impeachment complaint against the President.
Meanwhile, for her part, Vice President Leni Rodredo said, pushing impeachment complaints against them will not help the country.
“Ang impeachment whether against the President o against sa akin, hihintuin nito yung mga dapat pinaguukulan ng pansin ng Kongreso. Maraming trabaho na dapat atupagin tingin ko di ito makakabuti in the long run,” (An impeachment, whether against the President or against me, will put on hold issues that Congress needs to attend to. There’s so much work to be done, I believe this will not be beneficial in the long run) she said. – Mon Jocson | UNTV News & Rescue
