KUALA LUMPUR: A retired pilot was today fined RM2,500 or 20 days’ jail by the Traffic Court here today, for driving under the influence of alcohol.
Magistrate Maizatul Munirah Abdul Rahmad sentenced Mohd Fawzi Abdullah, 66, when he pleaded guilty to the offence at 2.15am in Jalan Imbi here, two days ago.
She also warned Mohd Fawzi not to repeat the offence as it was extremely dangerous (to drink and drive).
“The amount of alcohol was way too high as compared to other similar cases before me today...it is very dangerous to drive with such a high alcohol content,” she said.
Based on the facts of the case, the police manning a roadblock in Jalan Imbi stopped a car being driven in a suspicious manner and the driver was found to be in drunken state.
A breathalyser test conducted on Mohd Fawzi showed the alcohol content was 188 milligrammes which exceeded the permissible limit of 80 milligrammes of alcohol per 100 ml of blood. -- BERNAMA
