Retiring Sheriff's Deputy Ends 30-Year Career With Final Call From Dispatcher Daughter

A sheriff’s deputy in Grant County, Washington, retired after a 30-year career in law enforcement, with his daughter delivering his final radio call.

Video shared by the Grant County Sheriff’s Office on April 27 shows Deputy Wade Hilliard becoming emotional on the call with his daughter, dispatcher Amy Hilliard.

In the call, Amy Hilliard recounts her father’s connections to the community and his work with the sheriff’s office. She said Wade Hilliard’s career focused on the agency’s Marine Patrol Unit, where he partnered with boating agencies, the US Coast Guard, and more.

“You’ve been a mentor and great friend to many during your career. We appreciate all your hard work and dedication. We thank you and wish you well on your future endeavors. And dad, our family is happy to welcome you home for good,” Amy Hilliard said in the dispatch.
