Revamp in House chairmanship possible when Congress resumes session in May – House Speaker

House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez has decided to pursue the reorganization of majority members with leadership position who voted “no” to the Death Penalty Reimposition Bill when Congress resumes its session in May.

The position of the members of the majority coalition with committee chairmanship will be declared vacant following their disapproval to the Death Penalty Reimposition Bill in the House plenary.

According to House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez, the revamp of the House committees will be implemented when the session resumes in May.

Likewise, House majority leader Rudy Farinas has communicated with parties involved to submit their nominations.

“Hindi makakalimutan dahil we have asked the respective parties to submit their nominees for the replacements,” said House Speaker Alvarez.

Those who are under threat of being removed from their respective positions are Liberal Party members and the Makabayan bloc.

These include representatives Kaka Bag-ao, Kit Belmonte, Vilma Santos, Antonio Tinio, Carlos Zarate, Emmie de Jesus, Mariano Velarde, Josephine Sato, Sitti Hataman and Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.
