QUEZON CITY, Philippines — House leadership has postponed its plan of immediately reorganizing the committee chairmanships of members of the House majority coalition who did not vote for the Death Penalty Reimposition Bill.

Though the revamp is set to push through, House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez said they are leaving the decision to majority leader Congressman Rudy Fariñas.

“I talked to him. I’ll be the one to handle it. I am the majority leader. Minority leader is in charge of the minority,” Congressman Fariñas said.

Among those who cannot lose a committee chairmanship is former president and now Pampanga Representative Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, being the deputy speaker, as well as some members of the Makabayan bloc and the Liberal Party. — UNTV News & Rescue
