Are you lucky enough to live in one of the best places in the UK?

A study by the Centre for Economics and Business Research (CEBR) on behalf of Royal Mail has revealed the most desirable postcodes in the UK.

The study selected the best locations in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

In England it selected Bebington (CH63) in the Wirral as the number one best place to live, closely followed by Norwich (NR6) and Broadstone in Bournemouth (BN18).

Also on the list was East Cowes (PO32) on the Isle of Wight, Earley (RG6) in Reading and Horsforth (LS18) in Leeds.

Mostly though it was towns in the south that dominated the English list.

The rankings were based on a number of factors including quality of schools, access to green spaces, working hours, housing and average commuting times.

In Scotland, the majority of the most desirable places to live and work were around Glasgow, though Kirkwall (KW15) on the Orkney Islands and Stornoway (HS1) on the Isle of Lewis also made the top 10.

Bournemouth was also voted a desirable place to live (Rex)

In Wales, the most desirable place to live was Barry (CF63), which featured in the popular comedy, Gavin and Stacey.

And in Northern Ireland, the number one spot was occupied by Craigavon (BT65), in County Armagh.

In total there were 35 locations identified, but none of them included the UK capital, London.
