Ricciardo inspired by bad Formula One Monaco memory

An upbeat Daniel Ricciardo was hopeful he could enjoy another chance to grab pole position and win the Monaco Grand Prix after a strong practice showing on Thursday. The Australian Red Rull driver said he felt his team were in the mix at the front of the field after lapping second fastest behind championship leader Sebastian Vettel’s Ferrari. "I'm pretty pleased," said Ricciardo. "Firstly, to drive this track -- it's so much fun. I think regardless of how the car feels, it's fun. I feel like we got back in that groove around here. “We'll work on the car tonight, as there are a few little things I want to work on, but in general we're there, we're in that window where we need to be. We're not a second off it or anything so that's promising." Ricciardo grabbed pole position for Red Bull last year but was thwarted in his pursuit of victory in the closing laps by a tactical bungle that saw him waiting in the pits while his team searched for his tyres.
