Rihanna receives PETA’s Compassion in Fashion award for Fenty collection
Like millions of people around the world, Rihanna is in lockdown at home due to the coronavirus pandemic, but that hasn't stopped her from launching a new capsule collection for her fashion line, Fenty.
The star debuted a selection of high-quality faux leather items on her Instagram, including a corset dress, skirt and button-down shirts. "Our design team is constantly on the lookout for innovative new materials and ways to create, from traveling to Japan to research the art of denim to sourcing the finest faux leather," the Fenty website explains.
As well as excitement from her fans, the collection has won praise from People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. "Rihanna should take a bow for this stunning cruelty-free collection," said PETA Senior Vice President Lisa Lange. "With her new vegan collection, Rihanna shows how easy it is to create a killer look that no animal had to die for."

In celebration, PETA has shipped the Grammy winner a Compassion in Fashion award. The animal rights group posted a statement on their website announcing the accolade and praising Rihanna for joining the likes of Serena Williams and Jessica Simpson who’ve also used vegan materials in their fashion collections.
This is the second honour Rihanna has won for her Fenty label in recent months. In December, she picked up the prize for Urban Luxe at the Fashion Awards in London, presented to her by Janet Jackson.
