Rivers United's Sakin rallies support ahead Real Bamako clash

The Pride of Rivers secured their first win in the group stages, but the winger feels they need to collect points in their away matches

Bolaji Sakin has called on Rivers United's fans to get behind the team in their Champions League return leg against AS Real Bamako.

The Pride of Rivers played out a 0-0 draw against the Malians at Stade Modibo Kéïta and he will be hoping for victory in Port Harcourt on Sunday.

"Fans are important component in a football match. We trust our soccer loving fans to keep their side of the bargain with their massive support," Sakin told Goal.

"We go into the return leg match as favourites after the impressive result recorded in Bamako.

"Our superiority on the field of play will be matched with goals. Our major target is to score at the right time. God willing the objective will be realised."

Rivers United need to win to be sure of their place in the first round of the Caf Champions League.
