Rob Lowe to star in comedy 'Super Troopers 2'
Rob Lowe has joined the cast of the upcoming cop comedy "Super Troopers 2."
Deadline reports that Lowe will play Guy Le Franc, a former hockey player and current mayor of a Quebec-Canada border town.
The sequel to the 2001 film was made possible by a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo that raised more than $4.5 million last year, more than doubling their original goal of $2 million.
Original cast members Jay Chandrasekhar, Kevin Heffernan, Steve Lemme, Paul Soter and Erik Stolhanske will return to reprise their roles, with Chandrasekhar directing.
The quintet play bumbling Vermont state troopers who play pranks on each other and make a habit of picking fights with other law enforcement officers.
Production is currently underway in Boston.
