Rodri injury: Man City rocked as star 'ruled out for rest of season with ACL injury'

Manchester City star Rodri has ruled out for the rest of the season with a serious knee injury picked up against Arsenal, according to reports.

Widespread reports on Monday claimed that the midfielder suffered an anterior cruciate ligament tear in his right knee during the huge title clash at the Etihad Stadium.

The incident happened during the opening minutes of the game at a City corner. Rodri was being marked by Thomas Partey and fell to the pitch in agony after appearing to jar his knee in the turf as the two players jostled for position.

Rodri required on-pitch treatment and was then helped from the pitch as he hobbled off in the 20th minute.

Initial tests reported showed an ACL rupture and further testing will take place in Spain for further clarity, but it is feared Rodri will not play again this season.

The midfielder has flown to Barcelona for further treatment.

This is the first serious injury Rodri has suffered during a career which has largely been unaffected by fitness isssues.

According to Transfermarket, Rodri has missed just eight games, for both club and country, due to injury.
