Rodtang Jitmuangnon On Newcomer Danial Williams: ‘I Have To Be More Cautious’

ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Champion Rodtang “The Iron Man” Jitmuangnon has already made a name for himself as one of the hardest hitters in Asia. And this Thursday, 8 April, he will showcase those striking skills to a whole new audience.

Rodtang is set to face promotional newcomer “Mini T” Danial Williams at “ONE on TNT I” in what will be a non-World Title affair but with all the usual fireworks.

The fight will be broadcast live on TNT during prime-time North American television hours. But fans in Singapore can still catch all the action on the ONE Super App or ONE’s YouTube channel beginning at 8:30 a.m. SGT.

The Thai admits that he doesn’t know much about his opponent, but when you operate like “The Iron Man,” you probably don’t need to.

“The fight I watched is from around three years ago, so it is difficult to know how he has developed since then. But I can say, from what I have seen, is that he’s good, brave, and has strong weapons,” Rodtang said of “Mini T.”

In fact, Williams’ style is a lot like Rodtang’s – something even the World Champion had to admit.

“He has a similar style – he likes going forward, dares to take [a shot], and exchanges. His strengths are his low kicks and punches,” Rodtang continued.

“I think I will change my style a little bit, but for sure, I will never go backward. I have to be more cautious and not play around.”

Of course, Rodtang has already gone 9-0 in ONE Championship by throwing caution to the wind. But he’s eager to keep his winning streak alive, even if it means doing things a bit differently.

“Winning ten fights and being undefeated in ONE Championship is good. I would like to have that and maintain [my undefeated streak] as long as possible,” he said.

“My goal is staying on top and staying in the fans’ hearts. I give them what they want to watch – something exciting, aggressive, and fun.”

Catch all the action from “ONE on TNT I” this Thursday, 8 April, at 8:30 a.m. SGT on the ONE Super App or ONE’s YouTube channel.
