14 Aug – Congratulations to Malaysian horror movie "Roh" for successfully collecting RM243,184 at the box office after just one week of release in cinemas in Malaysia, Brunei and Singapore.

The movie's latest box office collection was posted by Kuman Pictures, the production company behind the local horror, on its official Facebook page.

In the same post, Kuman Pictures also revealed the daily box office statistic and the movie's performance in all three countries as well as the highest number of moviegoers by cinema.

The post was captioned: "The first week box office statistic for #filemROH. Hopefully this will be useful in studying current trends. We love all our viewers!"

Below are the photos posted on the Facebook page which shows the first week statistic for "Roh" in all three countries.

While many may think that a box office collection of more than RM200 thousand after a week of screening is not much cause for celebration, it must be emphasised that all cinemas are currently following strict Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) with the implementation of social distancing.

Audiences largely praised the movie's high quality, which is said to be on par with international films despite it being made on a small budget of approximately RM360,000.

There's no surprise then that the producers of "Roh" confidently promised a money-back guarantee for audience members who are dissatisfied with the movie's quality.

The Emir Ezwan-helmed movie is set during a time of war and revolves around a poor family living at the edge of the forest. They are visited by a mysterious girl and strange things begin happening after she tells them about a horrifying prediction.

It stars Namron, Farah Ahmad, Mhia Farhana, Junainah and Putri Qaseh.

Hopefully, the box office collection of "Roh" will continue to grow during its second week and in the upcoming weeks.
