Rosetta Getty to launch fashion line

The socialite and member of the famed Getty family is launching her own line of ready-to-wear fashion for Fall 2014.

High fashion fans are in for a treat, with a new collection by Rosetta Getty. Trained as a fashion designer, Getty is the wife of Balthazar Getty, an actor and musician and a member of the famed West Coast family, noted for their philanthropic support of the arts, including the famed Getty museum.

She previously ran her own children's fashion company (under her maiden name) titled Rosetta Millington, which was sold in Saks Fifth Avenue and Neiman Marcus, as well as other upmarket stores. Now she's back with an upmarket new womenswear collection.

"My philosophy is basically 'have it be seamless, have it be elegant but still be attractive and feminine.' I need to wear it from morning to evening." she told WWD.

Getty has teamed up with Matt Walker, former president of The Row and now CEO of the The Dock, a fashion investment and brand management firm which has previously invested in hip American label Creatures of the Wind (now stocked in Dover Street Market, Net-A-Porter, Isetan, Saks Fifth Avenue and 10 Corso Como).

"In addition to her own sophisticated and impeccable style, she has a very deep understanding of her customer, how her customer lives and the way they want their clothes to fit," explained Walker of the collaboration.

Designed for the warm California climate, the collection includes plenty of lightweight fabrics ready to be layered up, as well as sumptuous gala dinner furs. Prices will range from $635 for skirts up to $6,750 for the evening gowns, and for real luxury lovers, specialist furs will hit $16,000.
