Roy Ngerng pleads guilty to organising Hong Lim Park demonstration without approval

[UPDATED Tuesday 6 October 2015 14:52: Roy Ngerng has been fined a total of $1,900 for being a public nuisance, and for organising his rally without approval.]

Blogger Roy Ngerng has pleaded guilty to co-organising a protest rally at Hong Lim Park without approval.

He is the second of six protesters to plead guilty for being a public nuisance for the incident that occurred on 27 September. Ngerng, 34, contested in Ang Mo Kio GRC as part of a six-man team under the Reform Party during the 2015 General Election.

Last year, the six disrupted an event where children with special needs were performing at Hong Lim Park while a Return Our CPF protest rally took place on the same grounds.

The protesters marched around the area, as well as in front of the stage area where the children were performing. The group shouted slogans and waved flags and placards, startling participants at the event.

Ngerng faces a maximum fine of $1,000 for being a public nuisance.

One other protester, Ms Chua Siew Leng, 43, pleaded guilty to the public nuisance charge in March and was fined $300.

The four others, including blogger Han Hui Hui, 23, will stand in a joint trial next week. Han stood as an independent candidate in Radin Mas Single Member Constituency during the recent General Election.

Organising a demonstration without approval carries a maximum fine of $5,000.
