The holidays are not off to the best start for the royal family. According to multiple outlets, a Christmas party for staff got "out of control" and led to one person getting arrested, forcing Buckingham Palace to issue a statement on the situation.

The Sun initially reported the news that after an early evening reception at the Palace, approximately 50 staff members arrived for a pre-arranged party at All Bar One in London's Victoria neighborhood, where things proceeded to get a little rowdy. "A woman believed to be a housemaid aimed a punch at the manager, smashed glasses, and was arrested," the publication reported, while a witness told the outlet that they've "never seen one person get that crazy during a night out."

"She was on another level," they added, revealing that she punched the manager and was smashing glasses throughout the bar.

The police were called to the scene around 9 p.m. and the woman was arrested for assault, criminal damage, and being drunk and disorderly. She was taken into custody and later released the following evening, per the Met Police.

Meanwhile, Buckingham Palace responded to the alleged incident via a statement. "We are aware of an incident outside the workplace involving a number of Household staff who had previously attended an early evening reception at the Palace," a spokesperson said, per People. "While this was an informal social gathering, not an official Palace Christmas party, the facts will be fully investigated, with a robust disciplinary process followed in relation to individual staff and appropriate action taken."

As for the royal family's official holiday plans, things will presumably be a lot more calm. Although, it was revealed that they're preparing for a "chaotic Christmas" this year—however, for an entirely different reason.

The family is reportedly expecting to be "extremely busy with extra family guests," including almost all of King Charles's royal grandchildren. "Throw in the Tindalls' three plus Beatrice and Eugenie's kids, and it will be chaos—a Christmas dominated by children," royal expert Duncan Larcombe previously told Express.
