Rumored Spice Girls x Backstreet Boys tour falls through

Nineties pop music fans might be disappointed to learn that a rumored joint tour featuring The Spice Girls and The Backstreet Boys is no longer going ahead.

Former Backstreet Boy AJ McLean broke the news on US radio station 103.5 KTU, NME reports, saying: "From what I've heard, The Spice Girls want to do their own tour."

All is not lost though -- while The Backstreet Boys work on a new album, The Spice Girls are allegedly planning a 20th anniversary tour (although popstar-turned-designer Victoria Beckham will not be taking part). And McLean hasn't ruled out the option of a joint venture in the future, saying: ""God willing, maybe down the road it could happen."
