Russell Crowe considers buying Leeds United

26 Feb – Award-winning actor Russell Crowe has expressed interest over buying Leeds United Football Club after being suggested to do so by fans of the club.

Many fans of Leeds United are unhappy with the way Massimo Cellino handle the club. Two days ago, a certain fan reached out to the 50-year-old Hollywood actor and begged for him to take over the club.

The next day, "The Water Diviner" actor asked for opinions from his 1.68 million Twitter followers over the suggestion and the reactions given were pretty much positive.

Crowe who is already the co-owner of rugby league club South Sydney Rabbitohs, has been a fan of Leeds United for 40 years.

"I started following Leeds in the early Seventies...(they) can be heartbreakers, but that's the joy of sport," said Crowe as quoted by UK Express.

Leeds Fans LLP, a group supporting fan ownership of the club, also reached out to the actor on Twitter, saying that they wanted a "fan voice on the board" and they "would love to have" Crowe involved in it.

On 25 February, Leeds United Club released a statement announcing that Massimo Cellino, who has been barred from running the club until 10 April, will not be returning as chairman of the club even when his current ban expires.
