Russia reduces capacity of two World Cup venues
Russia's government announced on Wednesday a resolution to reduce the capacity of the stadiums in Yekaterinburg and Kaliningrad which will host matches at the 2018 World Cup. "The resolution changes the capacity of the stadiums that will be constructed in Yekaterinburg and Kaliningrad for the 2018 World Cup from 45,000 to 35,000 seats," said the statement on the Russian government's official website. "These changes have been endorsed by the sports ministry with the world football governing body FIFA." Russia will host the World Cup at 12 venues in 11 cities -- Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Kazan, Nizhny Novgorod, Saransk, Kaliningrad, Volgograd, Yekaterinburg, Samara, Sochi and Rostov-on-Don.
