Russian attack did not impact Khmelnytskyi NPP’s operation — IAEA
Explosions around the Khmelnytskyi Nuclear Power Plant (KhNPP) did not affect its operations, although several auxiliary buildings on site were damaged, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said in a statement on Oct. 25.
IAEA experts reported hearing two loud explosions in the early morning of Oct. 25. They later learned about two UAVs shot down approximately 5 and 20 kilometers away from the facility.

The IAEA's Director General, Rafael Grossi, stated that this incident once again highlights the extremely unstable nuclear safety situation in Ukraine due to Russian aggression.
“The fact that numerous windows at the site were destroyed shows just how close it was,” said Grossi.

“Next time, we may not be so fortunate. Hitting a nuclear power plant must be avoided at all costs.”

According to the IAEA, there was no direct impact from the drones on the facility; the explosions did not affect the NPP's operations or its connection to Ukriane’s power grid. However, the shock wave damaged the windows of several buildings on the site, including the entrance to the reactor buildings, auxiliary buildings, special equipment units, and training centers.
The IAEA team is still assessing the exact scale of the damage.
