A soldier from the Russian Defense Ministry's Storm unit, formed from prisoners released from jail, attacked a 71-year-old woman in St. Petersburg, attempting to rape her at the Naval Academy hospital, Telegram channel CHTD reported on May 29.

“The 37-year-old soldier was carrying a knife, but the woman managed to fight back and scream," the statement read.

"The doctor on duty helped restrain the man and knocked the weapon out of the attacker's hands. The doctor was wounded, but the wounds were shallow and not life-threatening."

It was also noted that in September 2022, the detainee was sentenced to five years for attempting to rape and murder a 56-year-old Russian woman, but the victim's son prevented him from completing the crime.
