KOTA KINABALU, May 12 — Parti Bersatu Sabah is mooting a new formula for the coalition, inviting existing members to join the new platform that will be independent from a federal alliance.

Party president Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan said that the plan is for Umno members to disband from the party and join PBS under a new “Gabungan Bersatu” umbrella.

“We have decided that Barisan Nasional is no longer a viable platform and we have offered to spearhead a new PBS, under which all,” he said.

“All the Umno en bloc, Upko and PBRS elected members, and their supporters, are invited to join PBS directly as party members. Meanwhile, Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku or STAR leaders and supporters will remain within their own party,” he said.

Pairin said that Chief Minister Tan Sri Musa Aman has agreed in principle to join the “new PBS”.
