SANDAKAN: Sabah Umno began the third day of the Umno Flag Run with a ‘doa selamat’ (Muslim prayer) before starting off for Kinabatangan.
Held in conjunction with Umno's 71st anniversary, the run’s third leg will take participants through Kinabatangan, Silam, Semporna and end in Tawau.
Joining in the run, which is organised by the state Umno Youth, are members of the Wanita and Puteri wings. Participants from each division will spend about one hour on the run.
On Monday, Umno treasurer Datuk Seri Salleh Said Keruak flagged off about 300 participants from Sepanggar division, and the run was continued by other division members up to Kudat.
On the second day, yesterday, about 1,000 people continued the run, which kicked-off from Pitas and passed through Beluran, Batu Sapi and Libaran, in Sandakan.
Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman, who is also Umno Libaran division chief, received the Umno flag from participants at his residence in Sandakan.
