PHILIPPINES — The camp of self-confessed drug lord, Franz Sabalones has defended his side against reports that Sabalones allegedly continues to conduct illegal drug operations.
Sabalones’s legal counsel, Atty. Louie Arma, said his client has not returned to drug trade after surrendering to PNP Chief Director General Ronald Dela Rosa in August.
He also regularly reports to the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) national headquarters at Camp Crame.
“Paano sya makapag-ooperate, san sya kukuha ng supply? Kung mababasa mo sa affidavit without divulging dahil private knowledge yan, wala na syang koneksyon sa mga taong ito sa loob ng NBP (New Bilibid Prison) para makakuha ng supply. Lalo nang hindi sya makapag-operate dahil minomonitor sya,” the counsel said.
(How is he supposed to operate? Where will he get the supply? If will read his affidavit without divulging because private knowledge, he has no more connections inside New Bilibid Prison to get supply. He is being monitored so all the more reason he cannot operate.)
Sabalones’s men have already been arrested.
Nevertheless, his camp is ready to face the freeze order issued by the Court of Appeals (CA) on his bank accounts and assets.
“We have no worries about it. We have to face first the Department of Justice case. After that if we are able to dismiss it then we will do something to convince the CA to lift the order,” said Atty. Arma.
Meanwhile, his brother, incumbent vice mayor of San Fernando, Cebu, Frals Sabalones, clarified that he has no knowledge of any of Franz’ illegal activities from the time Frals ran for office last elections until his appointment.
Si Franz at ako ay magkaiba. At kahit pa na may mga sitwasyon na ganito, patuloy pa rin tayo at nakita ng mga tao na magkaiba kami kahit titingnan nyo pa ang aking nakaraan, hindi ako nadawit sa mga ganito (Franz and I are different. Despite the setbacks, we have to move on. People are aware of how different we are, you can check my past records, I have never been involved in these [illegal drug activities]),” said Vice Mayor Frals Sabalones. — Gladys Toabi| UNTV News and Rescue
