Sandara Joins Twitter, Relives ‘Krung-Krung’ Tag

20 September 2012

Former kapamilya talent and recording artist Sandara Park surprised her fans by joining the micro-blogging site Twitter with a very familiar tag.

On Sept. 17, Sandara, now known as Dara of the hit K-pop group 2NE1, signed up on Twitter as "krungy21."

The 27-year-old Korean star was tagged as the "Pambansang Krung-Krung" during her stint in local showbiz in 2004. "Krung-krung" is a colloquial term used to describe Sandara, who was known to have a very unpredictable personality.

Despite being "krung-krung," Sandara was well-received by Pinoys, who supported her finishing as a runner-up in the defunct ABS-CBN reality search "Star Circle Quest (SCQ)."

After three years of a fruitful film, TV and recording career, Sandara went back to South Korea and signed up with YG Entertainment. Through her Twitter user name, Sandara is able to reconnect with her Filipino fans who rejoiced that their idol still remembers her Philippine showbiz roots though she is now a big star in Asia.

Sandara describes herself as the "Pambansang krungkrung ng Pilipinas" on her Twitter page. She also reached out to former colleagues like her "Kuya" Luis Manzano, and "Mommy" Pokwang and SCQ batchmate Melissa Ricks.

Although a Korean, Sandara speaks Filipino fluently and even tweets in Tagalog.

"I was surprised and moved by your warm welcome! Thank u thank u!!! Mwah! Mwah! Mwah!!! Kamusta mga krungerz -?!?" she addressed her Pinoy fans on Sept. 18.

Sandara told Luis, who asked when she will be back in the country, "d ko alam kelan ako babalik dyan.. Sobrang nahohomesick ako!!! Puntahan mo ako sa korea - bring sinigang na hipon for me!" Sinigang na hipon is Sandara's favorite Filipino dish.
