Sandra Ng admits new movie almost ruined her relationship

18 Dec – Hong Kong actress-turned-director Sandra Ng admitted that she and partner Peter Chan almost ruined their relationship while working on her directorial debut, "The Monsters' Bell".

As reported on Oriental Daily, the actress who sat down for an interview to promote the upcoming movie recently, shared that she started the project as a producer, before deciding to direct and star in it as well.

"I thought to myself that it has been two years since I last made a film, so I might as well direct and star in it too. I also asked Peter to produce it for me, so I can save my money," she said.

She added jokingly, "His money is my money."

However, Sandra said that she realised after making the movie that it was hard working on a project together as a couple, and that their differences of opinion almost ruined their relationship.

"Once, after we were done arguing, Peter dragged me into a bathroom and told me to not be too stubborn. We argued for another 45 minutes. At the time, I thought that making the movie would either cause us to sleep in separate bedrooms or worse, it would break us up," she said.

Sandra said that while it would be ridiculous to have a movie end one's relationship, the two of them couldn't help but bring their issues home.

Although they were able to finish the movie with no harm done, the actress said that she and Peter have decided that they won't be working together again, at least for now.

In a previous interview, Sandra admitted that she now understands how challenging Peter's job was after directing her first movie.
