KUCHING: A total of 42 foreign women were arrested in a series of anti-vice operations conducted over the past two weeks around Sarawak.
The women were arrested when police raided 12 prostitution dens operating under the guise of reflexology centres in Kuching, Padawan, Sibu, Bintulu and Miri.
Police have also arrested 10 caretakers of the centres during the operation codenamed 'Op Noda', which ended on Monday.
Sarawak Criminal Investigation Department chief Datuk Dev Kumar said that various items relating to sexual activities were seized during the raids.
"This confirmed our suspicion that these premises were actually prostitution dens," he said, adding that most foreigners arrested during the raids were from Indonesia and Vietnam.
The foreigners and the centres' caretakers have been remanded to facilitate investigations.
Dev also confirmed there was no element of human trafficking in connection with the case.
