Saul Niguez has been linked with a host of clubs in recent months, and the Atletico Madrid midfielder is leaning in to the transfer speculation in a big way.

Saul, 25, has a £130million release clause at Atletico - a figure that would be prohibitive to all but a select few clubs, and now almost certain out of reach for anyone following the coronavirus pandemic.

Atleti, however, are looking to raise funds to sign more players this summer, and recent reports suggest that Los Colchoneros would be willing to accept less than half that figure - around £70m - to get a deal done.

Manchester United have been heavily linked with the Spain international of late, but Standard Sport understands that the midfielder is currently not on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's immediate shortlist.

Still, Saul is certainly not keeping quiet, having following a host of United players on Instagram before tweeting on Sunday: "New club - I'll announce it (sic) 3 days."

United remain among the favourites for Saul's signature in the betting world at least at 11/2, though rivals Man City (5/2) are out in front with Fernandinho's recent shift to centre-back perhaps creating space in Pep Guardiola's midfield.

The likes of Chelsea (20/1), Arsenal and Tottenham (25/1) and Liverpool (33/1) have been given an outside chance of tempting Saul to the Premier League - but we shall find out in a days' time - unless it's all an elaborate PR ruse, of course...
