PANGKOR ISLAND: The public has been alerted of a haj package scam allegedly offered by the Perak Menteri Besar’s Office.
A WhatsApp message, which has gone viral over the last few days, is offering haj packages worth RM39,500 endorsed by the Menteri Besar’s Office – but Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir has denied his office’s involvement in the offer.
"My advice to the public is to be careful if they receive such a message, which is misleading and makes it look like it (originated from) my office.
''My office would not offer such a package, nor would it allow any party to use the Menteri Besar Office’s name for haj or any other packages.
"I was alerted to the message by state secretary Datuk Seri Abdul Puhat Mat Nayan, who forwarded the message (to me) recently," he told reporters after attending a briefing by the Manjung Public Works Department in Pangkor island today.
According to the viral message, which alleges to originate from ''Sahabat Pejabat Menteri Besar Perak'', the package includes a stay at a five-star hotel for a duration of about 30 days.
Zambry has instructed Abdul Puhat to investigate the matter and find the culprits.
