Scarlett Johansson has said she hopes her recent Black Widow lawsuit with Disney will have a "positive impact" on others working in Hollywood's film industry.

The 36-year-old star filed a suit against Disney for breach of contract when they chose to release her latest Marvel film, Black Widow, on the streaming service Disney+ on the same day as it came out in US cinemas in July.

Last month, Johansson and Disney settle her compensation claim and she has now told The Hollywood Reporter that she hopes it will encourage better treatment of other artists.

She said: "It was a very surreal time because, of course, the film had come out and was hugely successful and that was a big celebration. I had a baby and that was obviously a life-changing, amazing, celebratory thing.

"In a way, that sort of buoyed me through the very uncertain, stressful time. I feel mostly very fortunate that nobody will have to go through what I went through and that it’s made, I think, a positive impact in the industry and hopefully for artists and creatives’ lives and livelihood."

Johansson, who also has a seven-year-old daughter Rose, welcomed her baby son Cosmo in August.

She added: "It’s an evolving time where there’s this huge sea change happening, and as my daughter told me the other day, you can’t make an omelette without breaking some eggs."

In a statement after she settled with Disney, Johansson said: "I’m incredibly proud of the work we’ve done together over the years and have greatly enjoyed my creative relationship with the team. I look forward to continuing our collaboration in years to come."

It looks as though Disney are still keen to work with her, too, as Disney Studios chairman Alan Bergman said: "I’m very pleased that we have been able to come to a mutual agreement with Scarlett Johansson regarding Black Widow.

"We appreciate her contributions to the Marvel Cinematic Universe and look forward to working together on a number of upcoming projects, including Disney’s Tower of Terror."
