A fresh-faced Scarlett Johansson joins Instagram to model skincare line

Scarlett Johansson has joined Instagram via her new 'clean and effective' skincare line's page, The Outset, making her fans very happy.

The actor, who has never before had a presence on social media, is due to launch the full product range on 1 March, as unveiled by the social media account.

The Instagram profile features monochrome, behind-the-scenes campaign images of Johansson and other models, as well as graphics with plants and the words, 'Return to the essential: Do more with less', 'Find freedom in the uncomplicated: The ease of simplicity' and 'Foster new beginnings: For people and planet'.

There's also a collection of bright colour images, sharing an insight into the reasoning behind the 37-year-old's decision to found a skincare brand, together with entrepreneur and beauty/fashion executive Kate Foster.

Commenting on an image of a fresh-faced Johansson, fans have expressed their love of the star and excitement over her upcoming beauty line.

One exclaimed , "TAKE ALL MY MONEY" , while another wrote, "she looks perfect!!!".

Another commented: "If RADIANCE WAS A PERSON THAT WOULD BE HER".

Others simply commented "crying".

Another photo, an extreme close-up of the actor's side profile featuring her nose and lips, also created a stir.

'NEVER BEEN MORE EXCITED BY LIPS,' wrote one fan.

Speaking on her motivation for the skincare line, Johansson told Vogue in the March 2022 issue, "I've been the face of several luxury brands throughout my career, and all of those experiences were really wonderful.

"But – how do I put this? I guess I always felt like I was sort of playing a character in those campaigns, and as I evolved, I wanted to create and represent a brand that was true to me."

The Outset's Instagram page describes the line as, "THE START OF YOU. Clean and effective skincare to elevate your everyday. Founded by Scarlett Johansson and Kate Foster. 03.01.2022."

Johansson's own husband, comedian Colin Jost, also joined in with the fans. He teased on a close-up image of part of his wife's face, "Is this the best way to contact you? I'm starting a similar brand called 'Part of a Face' and would love to use this photo. Thanks."

Fans joined in with, "NEVER BEEN MORE EXCITED BY LIPS", "Scarlett's influencer era !!!" and "The Scarlett fan base is already going crazy hehe."

Johansson first announced she was launching a skincare line last year, and while nothing has been officially unveiled, followers are having a sneak peek as to what will be on offer on The Outset's account, already gaining nearly 40,000 followers, with one displaying what looks like four different lotions, creams or balms.

Co-founder Foster also shared a black and white image of her and Johansson smiling together, giving an insight into her journey with the actor to date. She wrote, "Nice to meet you! I'm Kate, an entrepreneur, mom, mentor, and Brooklynite.

"I'm also partners with Scarlett Johansson, as co-founder and CEO of our clean skincare brand The Outset. We met via mutual connections in the beauty industry two years ago.

"When Scarlett shared her vision for a reliable, everyday skim system that was clean, elevated, and as effortless as slipping on your favourite white tee, I was hooked."

Detailing how they managed to get through a global pandemic and supply chain distributions, she added, "somehow we're here, about to launch this brand in our own way, with a lot of heart and intention".

Foster also acknowledged Johansson's previous lack of Instagram presence, writing, "Scarlett and I are both social media novices" but added "and yet, were excited about showing up on our platform @theoutset to create conversations around a democratic approach to beauty that doesn't discriminate by gender or generation."

Johansson isn't the only star to carve out their own space in the beauty industry recently, with Jennifer Aniston's LolaVie and Ariana Grande's r.e.m. beauty making waves, following other big brands like Kylie Jenner's Kylie Cosmetics, Gwyneth Paltrow's Goop and Rihanna Fenty Beauty.
