SINGAPORE — A yacht berthed at Marina at Keppel Bay caught fire on Monday (30 May) morning, with no casualties reported.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said in a Facebook post that it was alerted to the incident at No. 2 Keppel Bay Vista at about 11.30am.

The fire was raging from the vessel upon its arrival, the SCDF added.

Firefighters from Marina Bay Fire Station and Alexandra Fire Station, with assistance from staff of the premises, immediately deployed three water jets and three hosereels from the pier to surround the vessel.

"This was to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading to other vessels," the SCDF said.

Firefighters from Brani Marine Fire Station and a vessel from the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) were also involved in the firefighting operation.

The fire was extinguished in about one hour with two water jets, two foam jets, and a water monitor from the MPA vessel, the SCDF said, adding that damping down operations are ongoing.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

In media circulating online, plumes of smoke can be seen emerging from a blackened vessel that was berthed near several other yachts.

One video captured more than 10 people gathering around the scene, with some putting out the fire with water from hoses.
