School of Designs plays a major role in shaping craftsmen in J&K

Srinagar (J&K) Aug 18 (ANI): Under the School of Designs, the Directorate of Handicrafts and Handloom, Jammu and Kashmir, many craftsmen are honing their skills. For the promotion of overall handicraft sector of Kashmir, the school plays a tremendous role in shaping and modifying all kinds of Kashmir art products with latest designs. With the help of professional designers, the craftsmen of this institute have been trained to preserve the originality of the designs and applying modifications in various products including paper mache, wood carving, Kani shawls, carpets, willow wicker, chain stitches, and embroidery “Our handicraft is incomplete without School of Designs. Be it any product, it is incomplete without the School of Designs. If we change the design, it impacts the original product. But if we give a proper designing touch without losing its originality and accuracy it becomes a perfect package” said a craftsman.
