Synchronised swimmer Debbie Soh has won Singapore’s first gold medal of the 29th SEA Games in Kuala Lumpur. Soh scored 75.000 and finished at the top of the podium in the solo free routine.

Compatriot Miya Yong took bronze with a score of 73.0333, while Malaysia’s Lee Yhing Huey took silver with a score of 74.7000.

Soh and Yong will also be competing as a duet, and in the team event in the synchronised swimming competition this week.

Soh previously told Yahoo News Singapore that synchronised swimming requires “having the stamina of a water polo player, knowing how to swim like a swimmer and having the flexibility of a gymnast” all rolled into one.
