Selangor NGOs Coalition wants MACC to investigate Yeo for Yawas fund abuse

SHAH ALAM: The Selangor NGOs Coalition today lodged a report with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) urging for an investigation to be carried out on the alleged misappropriation of Yayasan Warisan Anak Selangor (Yawas) fund.

The coalition’s legal advisor Datuk Mohd Imran Tamrin said the investigations must look into the disbursement of the Yawas fund, which led by Damansara Utama assemblywoman Yeo Bee Yin.

“The Yawas fund was meant to assist the next-of-kin of the deceased with funeral expenses however, this assistance was not rendered.

“The Yawas fund disbursement is questionable, therefore we want this to be investigated,” he said.

Imran was speaking to reporters after handing over the documents to MACC this evening.

On Tuesday, the coalition’s chairman Datuk Seri Jamal Md Yunos lodged a police report against Yeo over abuse of Yawas fund.

Jamal claimed that Yeo had withdrawn cash from the Yawas fund but never disbursed it to qualified recipients.

He claimed several assemblymen from Pakatan Harapan were also involved in the abuse of the fund.

Meanwhile, Yeo who was also present at the MACC office has reiterated that there was no misappropriation of Yawas fund.

Yeo on Wednesday has denied allegation made by Jamal and stated that she had the paperwork to prove the matter.

“I was expecting him at my office, so that he can check all the documents. However, he did not turn up.

“I want to show him what good politics is, which is why I am here today with all the documents.

“He can check all the files if he wants to,” she added.
