JOHOR BARU: The Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar, said a selection board will be set up to vet and evaluate potential house buyers of the “Rumah Impian Bangsa Johor”, or Bangsa Johor Dream House project.

He said this in his speech prior to an investiture ceremony held in conjunction with his 59th birthday at Istana Besar today.

The ruler also reminded all quarters against lobbying him to obtain a house in the project.

"A selection board will be established to vet and conduct evaluation of every applicant. Therefore, do not lobby me to obtain a house. I will ensure that the project is successful, to give an opportunity to Bangsa Johor who do not have the means to own a house that is comfortable.

"This is my gift to help Johoreans who are truly in a dire situation," said Sultan Ibrahim.

Yesterday, the Sultan launched the housing project at the Galleria@Kotaraya, which attracted more than 10,000 people.

The project is being developed under the Sultan Ibrahim Foundation, under the auspices of Sultan Ibrahim. More than 1,800 units of houses in three locations in Johor Baru will be built, with prices below market value.
