LAHAD DATU: A 68-year-old man who had just received a partial payment of RM10,000 for a plot of land was robbed behind a petrol station here at 10.30am on Monday.

After dealing with the buyer at a lawyer’s office nearby, he was followed by two men.

They pushed him against a wall and one of the culprits checked his pocket containing the money.

The suspect handed the cash over to the other man who then took off.

A scuffle ensued when the victim grabbed hold of the suspect’s shirt.

He tried to flee but was detained with the help of the public.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner Hamzah Ahmad confirmed that the incident had occurred.

“A man has been detained and the case is being investigated for gang robbery,” he said. © New Straits Times Press (M) Bhd
