SEREMBAN: Negri Sembilan Yang di-Pertuan Besar Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir today called on the public to be more discerning in differentiating between truth and lies in responding to news and issues.

He said the public must filter, verify and study the news and issues thoroughly to ensure its accuracy.

"We need to separate the wheat from the chaff. In this case, we need to separate the truth from the lies," he said.

Tuanku Muhriz added that the integrity of the source of the news should also be taken into account.

"The public should look into how the issue is played, which could have been coated with inaccuracy for the benefit of certain parties," he said when opening the first sitting of the state's 5th legislative assembly for the 13th term today.

He also urged all parties to focus on current issues and problems for the benefit of the country and the rakyat.

"We shouldn't lose our focus by debating old issues. There are more crucial issues that need to be given priority," he said.
