Seven 'Jali Gang' members nabbed, 500 meth pills seized


KOTA BARU: A 35-year-old man believed to be the head of the ‘Jali Gang’ active in trafficking methamphetamine was detained in ‘Ops Tapis Narkotik’ in a roadside raid in Kampung Pulau Belanga near Sering here, last night.

Kota Baru district police chief, ACP Baharom Abu said in the 9.20pm incident, police seized 500 methamphetamine pills worth about RM10,000.

Baharom said before being arrested, the suspect was seen throwing two Gudang Garam cigarette packs and trying to flee.

“Initial examination found 500 reddish pills believed to be methamphetamine hidden in the two cigarettes packs.

“Further investigations found the suspect had four previous drug convictions and also tested positive for methamphetamine,” Baharom said at a press conference at the district police headquarters (IPD), here, today.

Following his arrest, police also arrested six other gang members, in their 30s, active in trafficking methamphetamine around Binjai and Pengkalan Datu here.--BERNAMA
