Severe Storms Cause Flooding in Sioux Falls, South Dakota

A line of thunderstorms brought heavy rain and flooding to Sioux Falls, South Dakota, on the morning of July 17, with Sioux Falls Regional Airport reporting more than two inches of rainfall in less than an hour.

Photos shared by residents showed cars partially submerged on flooded streets. The National Weather Service issued a flash-flood warning and said several water rescues were being carried out “due to cars stalled in flooded areas.” Two to three inches of rain fell in 30 to 45 minutes, the weather service said.
