The veteran star of the stage and screen featured in Steven Spielberg's Munich, and played Mags in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. She had recurring roles in hit TV shows including Glenn Close's Damages, Nurse Jackie starring Edie Falco, and The Affair with Dominic West and Ruth Wilson.

Sarah Jessica Parker led the tributes to her "dear SATC colleague" on social media, sharing a picture of Cohen along with the message: "Beautiful Lynn Cohen. Miranda's dear and necessary Magda. Our dear SATC colleague. Talent, grace, inspiration. RIP, X, SJ."

Kim Cattrall shared a picture of herself with Cohen on Instagram, and posted the caption: "Our beautiful #lynncohen Passing through nature to eternity RIPx."

Reflecting on her role in Sex and City and how her character broke barriers, Cohen told Cosmopolitan in 2018: "It showed a woman of a different age who was smart as the devil, very bossy, and also understood sexuality, and they needed that.

"It enlarged the canvas on which they were working, that they would not have a typical old lady molding away in some retirement home somewhere, but a woman who worked, and didn't suffer fools."

Cohen is survived by her husband Ronald Theodore Cohen, who she married in 1964.
