Shah Rukh Khan charged for smoking

14 Apr – Recently, a complaint was filed in Jaipur court against Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan for publicly smoking at the Sawai Man Singh Stadium during an Indian Premier League (IPL) match, according to the Masala website.

The complaint was submitted in the court of the additional chief judicial magistrate in Jaipur and the case made its first hearing yesterday.

The complaint was made by lawyer Nem Singh Rathore on behalf of the director of the Jaipur Criket Academy, Anand Singh, who said that smoking in public has been disallowed in Rajasthan since 2010. Shah Rukh Khan had been caught smoking in front of thousands of spectators and was even broadcasted live on the TV channel.

Nem Singh further added that spectators were being allowed into the stadium only after frisking. "The police was confiscating any objectionable items including cigarettes while frisking. However, it seems Shah Rukh was allowed to carry the cigarette packet into the stadium which is negligence on part of the police," he said in his complain.
