Sharks sign college defenseman Pasichnuk

San Jose Sharks general manager Doug Wilson announced on Tuesday that the team had agreed to a contract with free agent collegiate defenseman Brinson Pasichnuk.

The 22-year-old Pasichnuk made an impression on the Sharks when he skated in the team's development camp, and followed that up with a stellar senior season at Arizona State, tallying 37 points in 36 games.

"Brinson is an excellent puck moving defenseman with a physical brand of hockey," Wilson said.

"As captain for the Sun Devils program for two seasons under Arizona State head coach Greg Powers, he is a great team-mate and proven leader."

Pasichnuk finished the 2019-20 season ranking first among all NCAA defensemen with 121 shots, tied for second with 11 goals and third in points.

The native of Bonnyville, Alberta left Arizona State ranking first in program history with 107 points, first in assists with 68 and first in games played with 136.
