KUALA LUMPUR: Pas secretary-general Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan has withdrawn himself from nomination as vice-president in upcoming party polls.
In a statement today, Takiyuddin also announced that he is pulling out from contesting the Pas central working committee post for the 2017/2019 term.
"Seeing that I have full confidence in the current leadership, and I see compatibility in the leadership involving the president, deputy president and vice-presidents, I have made the decision to withdraw from contesting the vice-president post.
"I am confident that the current composition will be able to bring Pas to a bright future, especially in facing the 14th general election," he said.
Takiyuddin also said his decision to withdraw from contesting both posts is to allow other candidates to stand.
"I am ready to accept any appointed post that is deemed suitable for me by the party president," he added.
The party's 63rd Muktamar (assembly), which will be held in Kedah from April 29 to May 1, will see the election of its line-up of leaders for the 2017/2019 session.
